On this spiritual pilgrimage we often refer to the spiritual practices of prayer, Bible study, and reflection. Making it a daily habit to take part in these practices is so important to becoming a lifelong disciple of Jesus Christ. Doing something no matter how small of an effort, brings us along on our journey, and over time will allow us to see more of God’s vision for us.
This verse notes that our minds should be prepared for action as we discipline ourselves and as we set our hope on the grace of Jesus Christ. This grace is a free gift from God through Jesus life, death, and resurrection. When our minds are engaged and alert as we take part in these spiritual practices, we can then become more open to the growth that is directed by the Holy Spirit. May you spiritual habits enable you to see this hope in Jesus!
Prayer, may my spiritual practices allow me to embrace the hope and grace freely given to me, and may this be shared with those I meet today! Amen. Vernon T.
